Le Grand Bornand in summer
Enjoy a ton of activities from our hotel
Le Grand-Bornand is a top stop for cyclists on the Route des Grandes Alpes, the iconic tourist itinerary linking Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean via some of the greatest mountain passes in the Alps. A stop many a time on the Tour de France, the village has a lot going for it, starting with its great location at the foot of the Col de la Colombière. It’s a classic worth climbing, either by regular or electric bike (the hotel can provide you with electric bicycles depending on the conditions and availability of equipment).
A real summer resort, Le Grand-Bornand offers an array of activities. Enjoy hiking, horse-riding and cycling along the numerous trails that lead up the peaks (Lachat, Maroly, Jalouvre, Roc des Tours), or enjoy Nordic walking, the adventure trails, via ferrata, paragliding, balloon rides, summer biathlons, the 10 hole golf course, tennis, archery, fishing and rafting.
Summer is also the perfect opportunity to discover the architectural riches of Le Grand Bornand Village and Le Grand Bornand Chinaillon with the heritage trails (featuring chapels, Stations of the Cross and other meeting places). You’ll also be able to enjoy a special gourmet tour through the old village of Le Chinaillon, with a specially guided heritage tour followed by a tasting of delicious local products.
Le Grand Bornand is also renowned for its festival “Au Bonheur des Mômes” at the end of August, the top children’s theatre festival in Europe with all sorts of performing arts on show. Enjoy theatre, circus, dance, music and puppetry across six days of family fun!
